New Scorpion head volleyball coach John Barnes will host another tryout camp on Saturday, July 12. Students who are planning to attend UTB/TSC, or who have registered for classes in the fall, are encouraged to attend.

The Scorpions will be returning six players to the 2008 team, including second team NAIA All-American Talita Milasauskas and all-Red River Athletic Conference first team selection Katie Japp.

In 2007, the Scorpions won the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament and the NAIA Region VI Tournament, advancing to the NAIA National Women's Volleyball Championships. The Scorpions advanced to the quarterfinals, where they lost to eventual national champion Fresno Pacific (Calif.). Despite a #18 ranking in the final NAIA poll at the end of the regular season, UTB/TSC finished the season with a 36-9 record and tied for fifth in the nation.

Barnes said he also plans to host a summer volleyball camp for youth later in the summer.
