Athletic
Training at UTB/TSC is committed to
providing the best sports medicine
care.
Athletic Training was established in the spring of 2007 with the hiring of Marty L. Castillo, head athletic trainer. As a State Licensed Athletic Trainer, Castillo is responsible for the prevention, care and rehabilitation of injuries for the UTB/TSC Scorpion athletic teams and for daily operations.
The following services are provided for all UTB/TSC student-athletes:
Prevention
Providing health care information and counsel athletes
Care
Conducting an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness and formulate an impression of the injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care and refer to a physician for definitive diagnosis and treatment, if appropriate
Administering first aid and emergency care for acute athletic injuries and illnesses
Rehabilitation
Coordinating, planning and implementing a comprehensive rehabilitation program for athletic injuries
The Athletic Training room is located in Cortez Hall, Room 231 at Student Health Services.
