Scorpions, Oklahoma Baptist Battle 110 Minutes to
1-1 Deadlock
Posted September 6, 2008
After 110 minutes of hard-nosed soccer in
field conditions immediately after a rainstorm, UTB/TSC and Oklahoma Baptist
University battled to a 1-1 tie in a women's soccer match Saturday,
September 5, at Morningside Park.
OBU scored in the first half and led at halftime, 1-1, before the Scorpions tied the game at 1-1 on a close-range goal by freshman Bianca de Leon with 21:12 left in regulation.
Both teams had opportunities to score in the remaining minutes in regulation time and through two 10-minute overtime periods.
OBU finished with 22 shots compared to 11 for the Scorpions, and OBU had a 14-4 advantage in shots on goal. Scorpion goalkeeper Stephanie Reid had 12 saves.
The Scorpions, now 1-1-1 for the season, go a chance to heal some injuries for the next two weeks before they resume action September 20 against Our Lady of the Lake University at Morningside Park.
