Purser Named
RRAC Defensive Player of the Week
Posted October 2, 2007
Scorpion soccer defender Dave Purser has
been named Red River Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period
September 24-30.
HTU's Frank Toscano was named RRAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Purser, a junior defender from Boston, England, helped shut down two conference opponents last week. In a 4-1 win over Northwood University, he drew a foul that led to a penalty kick, leading to a goal for the Scorpions, and he contributed to a defense that didn’t allow any shots on goal in a 1-0 victory over Texas Wesleyan University.
The Scorpions are 5-0 in the RRAC and 8-2-1 on the season.
Scorpion teammates who have won Player of the Week honors previously are Brian Hardie and Fernando Mendoza (Offensive) and Bojan Maric and Juan Gamboa (Defensive).
