AUSTIN -- St. Edward's University scored twice in the second half to stop the UTB/TSC Scorpions, 2-0, in men’s soccer action at St. Edward’s Soccer Field Sunday afternoon.

The win keeps the Hilltoppers unbeaten after four games, while the Scorpions drop to 3-2. St. Edward's is ranked No. 23 in NCAA Division II men's soccer.

"We kept the ball well in the first half, and were pretty solid," Scorpion head coach Dan Balaguero said. "We just didn't play well in the second half. We started well, but when they scored two goals within four minutes. We couldn't get create any opportunities."

After a scoreless first half, the Hilltopppers struck twice within a five-minute span in the second half.
In the 56th minute, Josh Nannen scored on a tap-in after a corner kick. Five minutes later, Nannen assisted on a breakaway goal by Trey Perkins.

SEU outshot the Scorpions, 17-6, and had 10 shots on goal compared to two by the Scorpions, both in the first half. UTB/TSC goalkeeper Juan Gamboa had eight saves.

"Our effort wasn't good enough, not against a good team like St. Edward's," Balaguero said. "We were not focused when we gave away two goals in just a few minutes, and you can't win many games like that."

The Scorpions return to action at Morningside Park against Our Lady of the Lake University at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 20.
