MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- The UTB/TSC men's soccer team continues its week-long stay in
Oklahoma with matches in the Bacone Classic Friday and Saturday, September 7-8.
The Scorpions started
their season on the road Monday and Tuesday, September 3-4, with a 2-1 loss to St. Gregory's University and a 1-1 tie with Oklahoma Baptist University, respectively.
UTB/TSC (0-1-1) competes in its first-ever Red River Athletic Conference match at 4 p.m. Friday, September 7, against Bacone College (0-2) in the opening game of the tournament. At 10 a.m. Saturday, September 8, the Scorpions will compete against Sooner Athletic Conference member Rogers State (1-0) University, wrapping up a four-game, week-long, road trip in Oklahoma.
"Tomorrow's the most important game of the trip for us," Scorpion head coach Dan Balaguero said. "We want to get off to a good start in the conference, and we need to be focused and ready to go. We should win if we play well."
Scorpion goalkeeper Bojan Maric has not given up any goals in open play this season, despite the loss and tie, because the three goals allowed in two games have come on penalty kicks or free kicks.
The next stop for the Scorpions will be at 4 p.m. Friday, September 14, against Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.
