Posted
July 26, 2007
The Red River Athletic Conference has announced
its institutional GPA awards for the 2006-07 academic year.
Fourteen UTB/TSC student-athletes received individual awards for
achieving a
3.0 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale) during the 2006-07 academic year. They were:
Baseball: Jonathon Ali, Gabe Cruz, Luis DeJesus, Gilbert Gonzales, Noe Gonzales, Andres Monterrubio, Scott Price, Hawk Scott, Frank Torres.
Men’s Golf: Anthony Lopez
The 14 student-athlete total was 11th highest out of the 13 RRAC institutions.
As a group, UTB/TSC finished 13th with a cumulative GPA of 2.40. The calculation did not include the Scorpion women's golf team, which received the NAIA Scholar Team award. Because only three schools in the RRAC have women's golf programs, the sport is not recognized as a sponsored sport by the conference because it does not the required four-team minimum.
