Ryan Baldwin of Corpus Christi signed a Red River Athletic Conference Letter of Intent to join the UTB/TSC women's golf team during a ceremony at the Manuel Garza B. Gymnasium.

Baldwin is a 2008 graduate of Corpus Christi King, where she was a standout player on the Mustangs' golf team for three years. She finished third in the district tournament in both her sophomore and senior years and finished ninth at the Region IV-5A tournament in San Antonio in May. Baldwin was a member of the Corpus Christi Caller All-South Texas Golf Team in 2006.

"Ryan will instantly bring a quality game," Scorpion head golf coach Bob Lucio said. "She had a real good high school career and her scores reflect that she has a lot of talent. I'm looking forward to working with her."

Baldwin won individual medalist honors in six tournaments during the 2007-08 season, including a string of five in a row in the fall season where she shot in the 70s in every round during the span. Her career low score of 72 came at the Willow Springs Golf Course in San Antonio. Baldwin has won various honors competing in the summer South Texas PGA Tournaments for since 2004.

"This is a great opportunity for me to play here, and stay close to home," Baldwin said. "Coach Lucio is a great coach and has a very positive attitude. I hope to learn a lot from him and want to be successful here."
