Scorpion women's golfers Annette Valdez and Allison Valles were named as two of 94 recipients of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete award.
The awards are handed out annually to the most outstanding NAIA student-athletes in the NAIA.
The criteria for the award is as follows: recipient must be a junior or above in academic standing, have a cumulative 3.5 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale and have been in attendance at nominating institution for one full academic year.
Bethel (Ind.) and Embry-Riddle (Fla.) had four selections each.
Other Scorpion student-athletes receiving the award in the 2007-08 academic year include volleyball player Katie Japp and baseball player Scott Price.
