Scorpion Women Finish in Seventh

–- UTB/TSC held its
position in seventh
place out of 12 teams at the
Bluebonnet Classic hosted by
Northwood University at the Harbour Lakes Golf Course
Tuesday, April 1.
The Scorpions shot a team score of 367 Tuesday, 12 shots higher than the opening-day total of 355 for a 722 total. Oklahoma City University won the tournament with a 36-hole total of 609.
"A cold front blew in, and it was brutal," Scorpion coach Bob Lucio said. "Everyone's scores went up. Considering the bad weather we got, our scores weren't that bad."
Junior April Martinez led the Scorpion efforts again with an 84 Tuesday, giving her a 36-hole total of 166 after an opening-round score of 82. Allison Valles finished with a 179 (90-89), Tara Calderon 185 (91-94), and Andrea Cadriel 190 (94-99). Annette Valdes shot a first-round 93 and second-round 108, but her scores did not count toward the team total.
The tournament was last one for the Scorpions before they participate in the NAIA Region VI Tournament April 28-29 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
