Scorpion Men's, Women's Golf Teams Have Successful First Day at Lucio Invitational

HARLINGEN –- The UTB/TSC men’s and women’s golf teams got off to strong starts after the first day of the 10th Annual Sen. Eddie Lucio Invitational Golf Tournament Saturday, February 16, at the Treasure Hills Country Club.

The Scorpion men’s team won, 3-0, over Texas A&M International University in match play. The teams of Brock Crosson-Chris Milligan, Jones Mitchell-O.J. Moreno, and Nate Atkins-Victor Calzada all won their matches over TAMIU opponents.

On Sunday, UTB/TSC and TAMIU will compete in individual match play. Scorpion senior golfer Anthony Lopez, who did not compete Saturday, will be on the course Sunday.

On the women’s side, UTB/TSC leads the four-team field with a 367, four shots better than McMurry University.

Scorpion junior April Martinez and freshman Andrea Cadriel lead the field with identical scores of 86.

Other Scorpion scores were Allison Valles with 93, Annette Vandez with 102, and Tara Calderon with 107.

The 36-hole tournament concludes Sunday.
