Scorpions Score Seven Runs in Late Innings in Shocking 11-5 Win over Bacone
Posted May 1, 2008
Bacone College came into the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Championship as the No. 2 seed, a 40-12 record, and the nation's leading hitter.

The Warriors played the host UTB/TSC Scorpions with a lot of confidence. Bacone had swept three games from UTB/TSC in Oklahoma in February, dropping the Scorpions' record to 1-15 at the time.

Like they did in a win over Wiley the previous day, the Scorpions rallied from behind again, scoring seven runs in the last two innings for an 11-5 victory.

It is the biggest victory over such a strong opponent in the history of Scorpion baseball. Never before had the Scorpions beaten a team that had won 40 games since joining NAIA baseball in 2007.

The Scorpions (24-31) now play at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 1, against the loser of the Texas Wesleyan-Northwood game which started at 2:55 p.m. Bacone (41-14) returned to Muskogee, Oklahoma, disappointed in the outcome.

Zach Moya and Evan Hardman combined to pitch for the Scorpions. Moya went four innings, allowing three earned runs.  Hardman pitched the final five innings, allowing only one earned run and getting the victory.

All games in the tournament will be webcast through DakStats, which offers a GameCenter format. Internet users can track every pitch and every statistic in the game. All Scorpion games will also have an audio and video webcast. The Friday championship games will also be audio and video webcast.
