Camorlinga had three hits each to pace the UTB/TSC Scorpions to a 13-8
victory over Jarvis Christian College in a Red River Athletic Conference
South Zone game Saturday April 5 at Scorpion Field.
The win completed a three game sweep by the Scorpions in their only home conference series of the season. UTB/TSC is now 18-27 and sits in second place in the RRAC South Zone standings with a 5-4 record.
JCC dropped to 8-21-1 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
The Scorpions finish conference play with a three-game series at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas April 12-13. UTB/TSC can clinch a berth in the RRAC Tournament April 29-May 2 at Scorpion Field with one or two victories at Wiley.
"These were very big games for us," Scorpion head coach Joel Barta said. "Now we have a little bit of wiggle room when we play at Wiley next week, we can clinch second place in our zone with a good series and that will be very big for us when we host the conference tournament."
Tony Lerma (5-5) pitched seven strong innings for the Scorpions allowing two earned runs and four hits, while striking out four and walking none. Zach Moya pitched two innings in relief.
Errors marred the three-hour, 22-minute marathon game, with each team committing six miscues.
The Scorpions scored single runs in the first three innings before adding four runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to break open a 3-3 tie.
Camorlinga drove in three runs and scored twice for the Scorpions while Ryan MacDonald had two hits, scored twice, and drove in two runs. Jacob Yousif also had two hits in the Scorpions' 14-hit attack.
The Scorpions have only one regular season home game remaining on Tuesday, April 15, against Texas A&M International University.
